International Ethiopian Evangelical Church

The International Ethiopian Evangelical Church (IEEC) is a vibrant community of believers in the DC Metropolitan Area serving thousands of Ethiopians and Eritrean nationals. IEEC was formed in 1988 by a small group under the leadership of Senior Pastor Hanfere Aligaz and met in a single meeting room of a local Presbyterian church. At the time the church consisted of less than 10 people attending a weekly bible study. The congregation outgrew the meeting room and subsequently the sanctuary of the church. The congregation moved to its current Shepherd Park location, a former synagogue, in 1996. The church has grown since then with several branch churches in the U.S. (Maryland, Virginia, New York, Florida, South Carolina) and internationally (Egypt, Lebanon, Djibouti, and Ethiopia) and has a large multimedia presence.  Visitors can locate the next available service near you their Calendar (English translation is available for our morning Sunday services).
